Menstruation is one of the most common experiences for women. Despite menstruation being part of every woman’s life, millions of girls and women globally struggle to manage their monthly periods. While you are reading this, more than 80 million girls in developing countries are trapped in a poverty-cycle, due to the mere fact that their menstruation are prohibiting them from attending school. As a matter of fact, research shows that one in 10 African girls miss school during their periods, the U.N. children’s agency UNICEF estimates, which means they fall behind in their studies and often drop out of school.
