Our CEO and Founder Mary Consolata Namagambe was invited by the Ambassador of South Africa in Denmark, H.E. Zindziswa Mandela, to give a speech at the UN city in Copenhagen – speaking to 50 ambassadors from across the world and 300 guests.
This was the first of a series of dialogues on driving gender equality foreward, called “Gender Dialogues: unfinished business”. The event was held on the 1st of March at the UN city in Copenhagen, and cohosted by UNOPS and the embassies of Australia, Ireland and Norway to Denmark.
Mary was part of a panel of influential voices from public and private sectors, as well as civil society.
Mary spoke about why something as natural as menstruation is keeping girls away from school, and why we in 2019 still haven’t noticed that menstruation has been keeping girls from fulfilling their full potential despite menstruation being part of our lives since day one.
Mary was on stage with many influential speakers, including Kira Appel, Deputy Head for the Department for Gender Equality from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Caroline Rusten, the Nordic Director for UN Women.
